Get to know Lijit
Today, we meet the oldest (and wisest) member of the Lijit team. Dan is the VP of engineering, which means that he manages the hardware and the network infrastructure. Plus, the foosball table is in his office, so I think he also manages that.
I asked Dan some questions (you know the Actor's Studio routine by now) and here is what he had to say.
- What is your Lijit contribution?
I am the Grill Master, which is a pretty sad commentary on the level of grilling skills within Lijit. My rise to this lofty position went something like this. It was time to fire up the grill for our first lunchtime cookout, and suddenly everyone else was conveniently really busy. So I volunteered, and next thing I know everyone is calling me the Grill Master.
2. What is your favorite word and why?
ni (from Monty Python and the Holy Grail). It is has so much power for such a small word.
3. What sound or noise do you hate and why?
The sound of our system status pager going off. Because it means that I may have to drive down to the Denver Tech center in the middle of the night.
4. What occupation (other than your own) would you like to attempt and why?
Professional golfer (although with my golf game, there is no chance of that ever happening). It would be great to go to beautiful resorts, play golf and make money doing it.
5. Something you're guilty of...
Spending more time than any human being researching hi-def TV’s without actually buying one.
I was able to catch the Grillmaster in action, although not on a day when we were actually grilling. So here is a secret peek at what the Grillmaster does to keep up his skills...some zen Grillmaster training probably involving visualizations of meat.
Big thanks to Dan for all that he does. Another interesting fact about Dan...on a Friday afternoon, there's nothing he enjoys more than his Mickey's malt liquor. If that doesn't make him smooth like butta, I don't know what does.
