Proof that January rocked...
On the final day of the first month of the new year, I thought I would catch y'all up on some of the good things happening here at Lijit. Despite being the month with the most depressing day (Blue Monday), January has been nothing but kind to us. A list of things to be grateful for this month include:
Our acquisition of Big Swerve. This was a big deal, not only because it's our first acquisition, but also because it gives us the missing piece of the search pie that we were craving. Comments have always been the "dark matter" of the blogosphere, meaning that there was really no way of indexing them or searching them. With Big Swerve, we now have the power to search the over 400 million blog comments that they have already indexed, making our search soon-to-be much sweeter. For some more on the recent acquisition, read what Brad Feld has to say about it. (And for more about Brad Feld, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for his Lijit profile coming soon...)
Our CEO. Besides just being a great guy to work for, Todd is on fire with his awesome blog posts lately. Everything that guy types turns into magic. Don't believe me? Check out his post on experiencing a CEO moment, the wonderful way he explains the importance of Lijit's Re-Search feature (You don't want to be the last to hear about the Second Click!) and his most recent post on socially-influenced search. How can you not be grateful to work for a boss like this....
Our community. Evangicamp Part Deux (or Evangicamp v 2.0, as Josh Larson likes to call it) was on Tuesday night and we had a good turnout of local folk who are involved with tech evangelism. The beer and pizza helped to fuel the discussion and it was exciting to see some new faces. After gatherings like this, I'm always thankful for living in the up and coming tech scene known as Silicon Mountain. Gwen Bell wrote up a good review of Evangicamp for Colorado Startups and it features a short interview with me. If you want to hear me talk about Evangicamp in my own (loud and dramatic) words, make sure to check it out.
Our users. We wouldn't be here if it weren't for the blog publishers that use our wijit and give us feedback. Recently, we had a couple of users show us some love and excitement. Mani, from the Daily SEO blog, is the first to have a Lijit t-shirt in India and we're proud that he is representing us well.
Stephen Shores decided to show us how excited he is about his Lijit t-shirt in this picture he sent.
Of course, Stephen recently switched his blog back to wordpress.com, so he'll have to wait a while to enjoy the Lijit functionality. But we'll let him keep the shirt anyway.
Judging from January, 2008 is off to a great start! We can't wait to tell you about other cool things we have planned for the rest of the year...

Heh heh, I think that's one of the wackier photos I've taken. :) Can't wait to use Lijit again!
