I first met Micah when he signed up for a Lijit account and I reached out for feedback. In addition to providing some useful feedback on the wijit, he also wanted to know more about the company. His curiosity led me to schedule a meeting with him and Todd, our CEO. I don't want to take credit for Micah working at Lijit, but as he will agree, I played an integral part in bringing him to the table. And I'm so glad I did, because without Micah, we would be sorely lacking in neat gadgets around the office. Some of his contributions include...
But Micah is much more than just the toys he shares with us. I gave him some questions I thought he'd enjoy and he did not disappoint with his answers. Find out more about Micah and see what you can read into his answers.
1. What is your Lijit contribution?
If you were to look at my business card, my contribution would be to spread the word about Lijit and develop strategic relationships with publishers and content providers to drive usage of our widget.
If you were to ask the team at Lijit, it would be the purchase of a coffee maker and bringing the HamSwords Rock Band Experience to the office.
2. What is your favorite word and why?
My favorite word is “connection.” At the end of the day, it’s the only thing that matters.
3. What turns you off (creatively, emotionally or spiritually) and why?
The refusal to risk. My favorite saying is: “The best way to learn to duck is get punched in the face.” One can never really achieve without risk.
4. What career, other than your own, would you like to attempt and why?
Well, Ms. Lipton, I have been a volunteer lacrosse coach for 18 years (during and after college). If I could make more than $0 doing it, I would probably do it full time.
5. Something you're guilty of...
Outside of the things that would probably send me back to jail (wait, did I say “back”?), the one thing I am guilty of is sometimes talking the talk, but not walking the walk. But, I’m lazy, and walking looks too much like work.
A big thanks to Micah for humoring me and doing this. At first, he was adamant about not having his picture taken. Fortunately, I was able to catch Micah in his natural surroundings...
working in a coffee shop, on his little laptop, showing off his artwork. Without giving too much away, this is where you might find Micah performing his biz dev magic, making connections and creating partnerships with important people.
Of course, if you're looking to find out even more about Micah, might I suggest one of his well-written blogs? There's the one where he writes insightful posts that have a lot to say about start-ups and business in general, then there's his first Tumblr blog, where he posts quick snippets and pictures of his dogs. Oh, and don't forget to read his Rockband blog to find out the dates and locations of his upcoming gigs. If that doesn't satisfy your craving for all things Micah, then you can head over to his TUMMYblr blog, where he is documenting his weight loss in 2008 by posting pics of his belly.
And if nothing else, remember that if you are about to rock, then Micah salutes you...
and will probably call you out as a Hamswords tribute band. We're glad to have Micah as part of the Lijit team and are excited that there is finally someone around here with more tattoos than Walter.
I like your Nabaztag, crazy how hooked i have become to mine...
I wish you guys would make a way to replace the default Search inside wordpress (Not .com) so it worked with Lijit. I love your Widget but so many people use the normal search which annoys me.
Also maybe more ways to custom your widget like width and more styles.
One other thing I would love to see is more profiles and maybe to add your own small image for profiles you do not have?
I know this is not a ideas post but I just woke up and love your tool! One of my fave since digg.

bah, while I'm on the subject of ideas.
Any way to sort of link to some type of avatars like MBL or gravatars so we know who is searching? And also maybe a nice way to add buttons so we can have a all-in-one submit widget with digg buttons do things can be submitted without tons of widgets which i hate...
Id love to use more of your things on your widget but its picking which to use out of all the rest... do everything :D

Lee, thanks for all the ideas and suggestions. We always like to hear about what our passionate publishers want to see from us next. I'll send your feedback along to our product manager. We appreciate the support!

How do you like that cyber bunny? I've seen it and wanted it, but I'm not really sure what it does. I think it reads RSS feeds or something. Bon courage!
